Eltrog 50mg Tablet is an anticoagulant drug belonging to the thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonist category, containing the active ingredient Eltrombopag. It is used to treat low platelet counts caused by primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), hepatitis C (HCV) infection, or severe aplastic anemia. ITP is an autoimmune disorder in which the immune system destroys platelets. Platelets are blood cells that aid in clotting and protect blood vessel walls. Low platelet levels can result in severe bleeding and bruising.
This tablet is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to Eltrombopag or its components, severe liver impairment, or active liver disease. Regular monitoring of liver function, platelet counts, and eye health (including cataracts and retinal bleeding) is advised. Avoid taking this medicine with dairy products or calcium-rich drinks, as calcium affects absorption. Effective birth control is recommended during treatment, and inform your doctor if you become pregnant. Eltrog 50mg Tablet is not recommended for children under 1 year with ITP or patients under 18 with HCV-related thrombocytopenia or severe aplastic anemia. Inform your doctor about all medicines, supplements, and vitamins you are taking before starting treatment.
